Talloulah Angel

Artist Statement

My jewellery is an expression of the deep respect I hold for the natural world, particularly my home. It has been a way for me to deepen the ties to my ancestors and express my rejection of colonialist’s attitudes towards nature.

The symbols and markings I place on my pieces are a visual dialogue of my connection to Wirangu Country, Mother Nature and Her feminine energy.

My design process is intuitive and thematic. The materials I work with are ancient, able to return to the Earth in time, completing the cycle of creation, death and renewal.
