Artist Statement
Realism and detail have always been central to my art, with still life drawing being an early obsession of mine. Later this same interest in the natural world and affinity for tedious tasks lead me into my first area of study; Molecular Biology, where I would investigate these perfect yet microscopic natural structures. Upon completing these studies, I began exploring art and design once again and was enchanted by the elaborate and romantic forms of Baroque art. This collection of curious little charms and elaborate necklaces is the result of my exploration into this whimsical style. By using detailed castings, pillowy hollow forms, pearls, and coloured precious gemstones I hope to provoke the same sense of fascination I feel for elaborate structures both manmade and natural.
